Bollywood is a billion-dollar international entertainment business that has created some amazing movies and TV shows since the dawn of television. At the very heart of the industry, you have the hundreds and thousands of talented actresses who bring life to the movies on the big screen that are shown around the world. Bold, brilliant and most importantly, beautiful, these actresses have become renowned internationally not only for their amazing good looks, but their senses of fashion and style as well as their philanthropy.

Why is it, then, that very few are open about the work it takes to look that good, that often? More often than not, actresses are pressured into revealing the plastic surgery they’ve had or other beauty treatments like fillers and skin-smoothing after being relentlessly hounded by the press or trolls for ages. Even then, they rarely reveal all. In today’s Faciem blog we’ll be discussing some of Bollywood’s biggest actresses and the treatments they’re likely to have had, as well as why plastic surgery and anti-wrinkle treatments are still seen as such a taboo subject area for the industry. Better yet, we’ll be showing you just how accessible these treatments have become. Who would have thought high quality fillers and anti-wrinkle treatments would have been accessible at an aesthetics clinic in Blackburn?

As always, if you’re interested in any of the treatments you read about in today’s Faciem blog drop us a message using the Contact Us form at the top of the page, or drop us a DM on Instagram of Facebook

Neelam Kothari:

First up we have Neelam Kothari, semi-retired actress and star of India’s most controversial reality TV show of 2020, Fabulous Lives of Fabulous Wives. The star spoke openly about the ageing process and underwent a facelift live on the show. Shocking, right? But how so?

In an interview with Bollywood Hungama, Neelam said “I have no problem saying I’m 50. I know that other women out there have had conversations with friends.

.

Everyone is going through this ageing process. Whether in their minds or they are discussing it with their friends, they all want to look good and they don’t know what to do. So I told the creative team that I, myself, am going through this. I want to get something done but I am scared. I said I want to get a filler done. Very little, obviously. I asked if they wanted to capture it and they jumped at it.”

Seldom do we see actresses – especially ones as prominent as Neelam – speak so candidly about beauty treatments. In a world where women’s issues are confined to women’s magazines, it’s refreshing to see a lady as forthcoming as Neelam in sharing what she’s had done and why.

She also went on to say “I just feel that why not? People lie about it and they hide it and say ‘Oh, I don’t do anything,’ which is their prerogative. But I feel there is nothing wrong with going out there and being honest about it. Why not? I just feel like it is going to help other women.”

Couldn’t have summed it up better ourselves, Neelam.

Priyanka Chopra

Priyanka Chopra Jonas is another of the few actresses to speak openly about her experience with surgery. In her memoir, Unfinished, discusses how she underwent surgery to treat a polyp in her nasal cavity after having trouble breathing. “While shaving off the polyp, the doctor also accidentally shaved the bridge of my nose and the bridge collapsed. When it was time to remove the bandages and the condition of my nose was revealed, Mom and I were horrified. My original nose was gone.”

Her surgery was heavily publicised, referred to by the press and trolls as Plastic Chopra, and she went on to reveal that she was dropped from her very first acting jobs after rumours that she looked different.

“Following the polypectomy I had several corrective surgeries, and over time, my nose normalised. While it took a few years of seeing a stranger gazing back at me every time I looked in the mirror, I’ve gotten accustomed to this face.”

We can learn a lot from Priyanka’s story, but there’s one key message to take away: no-one should be made to feel like plastic surgery is a bad thing. In her case, the surgery was corrective to put right an error that someone else had made. Would she have gotten surgery regardless had that error not been made? We can only speculate, but even if she did, would it be such a bad thing? Priyanka – whilst she may be one of Bollywood’s biggest stars – is also a person just like the rest of us. If surgery was something that was going to improve her quality of life, so be it. You have our support Priyanka.

Shilpa Shetty

Shilpa Shetty, the winner of the especially controversial 2006 series of Celebrity Big Brother here in the UK and one of India’s most high-profile celebrities is renowned for not only her acting prowess, but her incredible physique she’s managed to maintain well into her 40s. She is another celeb on our list who’s been incredibly honest about the cosmetic surgery she’s had, undergoing two nose jobs, which she claims was “not a big deal”. Shilpa chose to have surgery for the same reason many of our clients come to us – to balance out their side and front profiles and to offset her natural features in the best way possible. Unsurprisingly, it is one of the most popular treatments at our Blackburn based aesthetics clinic. Sometimes, getting the results you want is a case of tweaking a few of your features – we call these “tweakments” – to bring out the best in your face.

Kareena Kapoor

Wow…what a difference! Kareena is one of the celebrities on our list who vehemently denies having any surgery done, claiming her stunningly good looks are a result of her genetics. Of course, the following is speculation, but we have to say it is likely she has had some work done – regardless of whether she went under the knife or enjoys injectables. It could be argued that Kareena simply grew out of the baby face we all grew to love during her debut days when she starred in Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, but some of the changes to her appearance in recent years indicate that she has undergone some treatment. Noticeably, she appears to have undergone rhinoplasty to alter the tip of her nose. Her high cheekbones have likely been made more prominent with dermal cheek fillers – with her jawline also looking far sharper and more sculpted. Most noticeable, however, are her lips. We’re hard pressed to believe Kareena has denied having lip fillers and we certainly don’t understand why if she has – she looks incredible!

Katrina Kaif

We’re rounding out our list with Katrina Kaif – British Bollywood legend. Known for her distinct British accent, especially in her early days in the industry, this actress has never openly claimed she has had surgery, nor has she denied it. From the many pictures of her over her decades in the industry, it is hard not to notice some distinct changes on her face. From the pictures above, it is obvious she has had lip augmentation especially as the filler has migrated to the top of her lips. Ouch, Katrina, we would have thought a Bollywood legend would have known have chosen her aesthetician better. She also appears to have gone rhinoplasty to have her nose appear slimmer and sharper. We can’t fault her appearance – she looks as beautiful now as she did in the early 2000s.

We hope you enjoyed today’s Faciem blog on Bollywood. Which celeb featured shocked you the most? Let us know down in the comments!

You’ll see throughout our site and our social media (and even our DMs) that we constantly refer to your consultation with us at Faciem. “

Have you booked in for a consultation? Sorry, we can’t tell you what you need until your consultation. FREE consultations on Wednesday this week at our clinic – book spots while they last (Click here to book – Don’t forget to mention that you’re enquiring about the free consultations)!”

But what, exactly, are consultations all about? And are they really that important?

Today’s blog covers what you can expect from your one-to-one consultation at our newly renovated aesthetics clinic in Blackburn, how to prepare and the steps forward afterwards. From when you first make contact, we’ll guide you through the process step by step to ease any anxieties you may have and to ensure you have a smooth treatment.

So…what is this Faciem consultation thing all about?

The consultation at Faciem, to put it very simply, is an hour-long appointment between you and the aesthetician who will be treating you to work out a treatment plan for you that’s going to be effective. That’s it. Not much else to it, but we are absolutely adamant about them for many reasons.

In the same way you wouldn’t want a surgeon to meet you for the first time while you’re already dosed up on the table for your rhinoplasty, we want to get to know you before we treat you – even though fillers and vitamin boosts are temporary.

The consultation is a time for the aesthetician to speak to you and get to know you – and your face – without any distraction that comes with over the phone conversation or misunderstandings that come with exchanging messages back and forth over the course of a few days. You’ll get the chance to tell your consultant exactly what it is that you want and discuss how to go about achieving that. Better yet, your consultant will be able to see you under clinical lighting so will be able to give you an accurate assessment. Or perhaps you’re not sure about what treatment you want but want to speak to someone with specialist knowledge about which avenue you should go down? There are an abundance of reasons why face-to-face appointments are simply just better.

Most importantly, however, is the designing of your treatment plan with us at Faciem. Whilst you may come in with a firm idea that you want non-surgical rhinoplasty and lip fillers to balance out your profile, our consultations may believe what you actually need is some jawline filler to even out your face. Sometimes what you want and what you need aren’t always the same things, and that’s okay. That’s what we’re here for.

Consultations are unnecessary for me. I only wanted some lip filler; can’t we get that done?

Unfortunately, we do not offer treatments without consultations for the reasons mentioned above. We also believe that you need time to go away and really think about whether you want lip filler, for example, after all the information we’ll be giving you. While you may think you really want the treatment at first, you may go away and change your mind – as many of our clients do.

Throughout our time in the industry, we’ve come to realise that the clients who walk away the most satisfied are usually the ones who were sure about getting work done after they’ve been through the consultation and vetting process and then gone forward with the treatment.

Wait a minute, vetting process? What’s that all about?

Don’t worry – it more formal than it is. You’ll have gathered by now that at Faciem, our client/injector relationship is the most important element of your time with us at our aesthetics clinic. Sometimes, potential clients approach us with requests we’re not comfortable fulfilling. We work with your face to create natural results at Faciem so if you approach us wanting huge lips that will throw off the symmetry of your face, we’ll politely turn you away as we most likely will not be able to work together.

And honestly? That’s okay – that’s why the consultation experience is vital for both yourselves and us.

Okay, I kind of get it now. What can I expect on the day? Do I need to do anything to prepare?

The only thing you need to prepare is how you’re planning to get to us! We’ll take care of the rest for you!

While it may seem formal and nerve-wracking, the consultation really is just a casual chat over a hot drink of your choice where we discuss your wants and needs, your treatment plan and also any concerns you may have.

What happens after? Can I get treated ASAP?

We don’t treat clients on the same day as their consultation even if they’re 100% sure they want the treatment. If you’re sure on the day, we’ll book you in for an appointment within the week on the day of your consultation. If you want to go away and need time to think about it, we’ll book you in for an appointment after you’ve contacted us.

We never pressure clients to buy treatments they don’t need; that’s why we’re so strict on our policy.

That’s it for today’s blog. We hope we answered any questions you might have had about your consultation experience at FACIEM AESTHETICS. If you have anymore questions, or just want to chat, leave a comment below or send us a DM on Instagram.
